First Upgrades
We're going to go over the first few upgrades we recommend on these scooters, most of these are the "set and forget" type of upgrades, requiring minimal tuning, or messing with fueling.
- Polini Variator - This part helps with the shifting of your scooter, and provides not only a bump in acceleration, but top speed. For the money this is the easiest to install and the best value for performance, which is why it earns the #1 spot on our list.
- Malossi Drive Belt - The belt is one of those things that we recommend replacing immediately when getting a new to you scooter, because you never know the last time it has been replaced. Malossi provides a solid upgraded belt for the aero, which will last longer than an OEM belt, and allow for more performance at the same time!
- S23 CDI - Quick timing curve upgrade, also provides easier starting. Plug and play!
Engine tuning
These upgrades are more tailored to those with some mechanical capabilities and experience. Tuning the transmission and carburetor are required with these upgrades. Please refer to the fueling system section to learn about carburetor tuning, and upgrades to the fuel system.
- Malossi Big bore kit - This kit not only increases your displacement by 40% from 49cc to 70cc, the port timing is a bit more aggressive. This will help with torque, acceleration, and top speed.
- Exhaust : We recommend the NCY exhaust with the Malossi big bore kit, or if you're keeping the OEM cylinder we recommend the slick willy exhaust. Either upgraded exhaust will require stiffer clutch springs.
Fuel System
Fuel system (carburetion) tuning is required when you install a big bore kit, and/or exhaust. The stock carburetor will suffice with most stock and mild big bore setups. But a larger carburetor can be installed with the big bore kit to maximize performance.
- Jet kit for OEM carb - this can be used to adjust the amount of fuel the OEM carb outputs into the engine. We usually recommend going up one or two sizes with just an exhaust. With a big bore kit we recommend going up a few sizes.
- Upgraded carburetor - upgrading the carburetor does require quite a few parts. You will need to get the CP carburetor bundle, throttle cable, and a big valve intake manifold or manifold adapter . The carburetor in conjunction with the big bore kit can be responsible for a 20-30% power increase!
